WELLINGTON WRITER'S COMMENTS
OTAGO CAPTAIN'S TACTICS [Special to the ‘ Star.’] WELLINGTON, February 24. Says the cricket writer in the ‘ Dominion’:—“lt was bad generalship on the Otago captain’s part not to have brought Blunt on until the Otago total of 211 had been passed. On such a wicket it would have boon sound policy to let Blunt keep one end going. When at long last Dunning did loss the ball to Blunt, he captured two jvickets in
his very first over. One has always wondered why Otago has not long ago elected Blunt to captain the side. No player in the dominion has had more experience of big cricket than Blunt, and he should make an able leader. It is not to be expected that a player like Dunning could have the same knowledge of cricket tactics. Certainly the Otago captain erred sadly in not employing such an able slow bowler as Blunt at Dunedin on Monday afternoon.”
