SUPREME COURT
[Per United Press Association.] HAMILTON, February 23. A middle-aged man named John Box was admitted to probation for one year by Mr Justice Smith in the Supreme Court to-day for breaking and entering and theft at Ohura on January 23. The prisoner pleaded guilty to breaking and entering a shop and stealing thirtyone bottles fo beer, valued at £2 6s 6d. A case involving a charge of the illegal use of an instrument against an elderly woman, Edith Amy Gerraty, of Thames, was adjourned until the May sessions on the application of the Crown solicitor. His Honour explained that the woman upon whom the accused was alleged to have operated was in a grave state of health, and another charge might be preferred. The prisoner was admitted to bail in her own recognisance of £SOO and two sureties of £250 each.
