OTAGO YACHT CLUB
At a meeting of the Social Committee held on Monday evening a strong Ladies’ Committee was formed to assist with the social side of tho club’s activities. These ladies have assisted in many function iis the past, and the club knows that further success will crown their efforts in future. The dance and euchre attractions at the boat harbour on Wednesday evening drew large numbers, Tho dance was a decided success. Open-air dancing depends on good weather, but even theo light drizzle which fell for about half an hour did not mar the success of the evening. The euchre players were not strong numerically, due to the fact that many people have not returned from holidays. Next Wednesday night will be the first night for the aggregate. Wednesday evening is to be euchre and dance night at the boat harbour. Sunday opened vftell, and Stella, Gloaming, Carina, Vyella, and Tuatea were at the Heads, while Southern Star, Imp, and Verona were at the islands with visitors aboard. The rain falling at midday and continuing all afternoon took away a good deal of the pleasure of these outings. Tho strong winds experienced during the last week did no damage at the Otago Club’s haven. The combined clubs’ picnic will be held at Company’s Bay on Sunday. February 7, and special buses will leave the Queen’s Gardens for the picnic site. Further particulars will appear in these notes next week. A good response is forthcoming to the sale of tickets, and this picnic promises to be the best yet staged.
