GOOD TEMPLARY

The weekly meeting of the Rescue Lodge, No. 105, was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, King Edward street, on Tuesday, when the Chief Templar, Bro. Jas. Hilton, presided over a large attendance of members and visitors from the Hope of Dunedin, Star of Freedom, and Hope of Cavershara Lodges. Reports to hand of the Grand. Lodge Reception Committee in connection with the Easter session to be held in Dunedin show that arrangements are well in hand, also that several members laid aside with sickness are reported to be improving in health. The item for the evening, sacred and temperance, in the hands of the chaplain and Bro. G, lies, was duly carried out, the following members contributing:—Organ selection, Sister M'Millan; recitations, Sisters Pauli and E. Duncan; sacred solos, Sisters R. D. Sell, A. Steadman, and Bros. Jas. Hilton and T. H. Dalton; readings, Bros. S. Sell and W. A. lies, and Sister Mrs .Smith. All present joined in the singing of several wellknown hymns. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded those who had contributed and the Visiting members. The meeting closed with the usual ceremonies. The Rescue Lodge, No. 105, 1.0.G.T., held its weekly meeting in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Kensington, on Tuesday. C.T. Bro. Hilton opened the lodge. Sister Mrs Gain was present from the Hope of Dunedin Lodge. The programme for the evening was in the hands of Bro.- George lies. Sacred songs were sung by the members of the lodge. Sacred solos were sung by Sister Sell, Sister Steadman, Bro. Hilton, Bro. Dalton (Grand Chief Templar). Temperance readings were given by Sister Smith, Bro. Sell, Bro. W. A. lies; temperance recitations by Sister Pauli, Sister Duncan; organ selections by Sister M'Millan; gramophone selections by Bro. E. J. lies. A bouquet of flowers was auctioned in aid of the Star of Freedom queen carnival. A hearty vote of thanks was extended to the visitors.

The Hope of Dunedin Lodge, No. 155, 1.0.G.T., held its meeting on Wednesday, O.T. Bro, E. J. Smith presiding over a good attendance of members and visitors from all lodges in the district. Correspondence was received from Bro. Rennie, G.S.J.W., and also from the Hope of Christchurch, Lodge. The item for the evening was ‘Temperance Night,’ Sister Gain, lodge deputy, taking full charge. Bro. Geo, lies (Rescue Lodge) gave an illustrated lecture called ‘ A Night at Sea Sister Mrs Beath, a recitation, Sister Steedman, jun.,, a sacred solo, Sister T. Pauli (Rescue) recitation, Sister Edna Wright sacred solo, Sister Mrs M'Millan recitation, Miss Frances Anthony recitation. To the vote of thanks to visitors Bro. lies responded on behalf of the Rescue, Bro. Patterson' for the Star of Freedom, and Bro. Stanley for the Hope of Cavershara. t , The Hope of Caversham Lodge, No. 128, held its weekly meeting in the Baxter Hall, Marion street. C.T. Sister Mrs Giles presided over a failattendance of members and visitors from Rescue Lodge. The programme for the evening was election and stallation of officers, as under;—C.T., Sister Mrs Giles (re-elected); V.T., Sister Mrs Leishman (re-elected); chaplain, Sister Mrs Blythe; F. see., Sister Steedman; secretary, Bro. Crawshaw (re-elected); assistant secretary, Bro. Dick (re-elected); treasurer, Bro. Hilton (re-elected); marshal,. Bro. Stanley (re-elected); deputy-marshal, Sister Riley (re-elected); guard, Bro. Restieaux (re-elected); sentinel, Bro. Giles (re-elected). The election of officers was followed by a ‘ Burns Night.’ Sister Leishman gave a solo, and Bro. Giles a reading.
