• 1 THE KOHWA MARU Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MANILA, January 16. Radio advices received hero state that the Japanese steamer Kohwa Maru, on route from Manila to Geraldtown, Australia, was forced off her course by a heavy gale, and went aground on a small island north of Borneo. It is feared that tho crew of thirty-nine officers and men will have to abandon the ship. It is believed that an unnamed vessel is standing by to aid.

[The Kohwa Maru was built in 1929. She is a vessel of 5,879 tons, and is fitted with oil engines.]
