QUEENSLAND HEAT WAVE SEVERE STORM IN BRISBANE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, January 13. (Received January 13, at 11 a.m.) The whole of Queensland has been in the grip of a heat wave for the past week. Tho temperature at Charleville yesterday reached 120 deg. Emerald registered HOdeg., and many other places over the century. An old man and a hoy died as the result of the excessive heat. There was a climax when one of the most severe storms for many years burst over tho city. Vivid lightning accompanied the fierce wind and torrential rain. AA r ithin a few minutes the streets were like rivers. The transport services were disorganised, and the electric light failed in several suburbs.
