December 22. Astoria, ms. (4.25 a.m.), 4,454 tons, S, Norregaard, for Ocean Island.

The Holmdale sailed late last night for Pictou .and Wanganui" via ports, while at 11.20 the Waipahi left for Napier and Gisborne via ports. The motor ship Astoria left Port Chalmers this morning for Ocean Island to load another phosphate cax-go. The Waimarino is to leave -Lyttelton this evening for Dunedin, where she is due to-morrow to unload and load cargo, sailing the same night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland.

Bad weather at New Plymouth has delayed the Opihi there, and the vessel is not now due at Dunedin until Christmas Day. She will then load out on Monday for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth. The Union Company’s cargo steamer Karepo. which has been laid up at Port Chalmers, is to commission early next month, when she will sail for Bluff, Westport, Melbourne, and Adelaide. "

THE FERRY SERVICE. The Rangatira, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.45 this morning, .and passengers and mails caught the south express. SWIMMING POOLS ON PACIFIC LINERS. On each oC the Union Company’s P.acilic mail liners—Aorangi and Niagara in the Vancouver run, and Monowai and Maknra in the San Francisco run—there has now been placed a canvas swimming pool for the use of passengers. WAIHEMO A DAY EARLIER. The Union Company’s Waihemo is now due at Dunedin on- Thursday to unload Pacific Coast cargo. When she has finished she will proceed to Bluff, Melbourne, and Sydney. CANTERBURY COMPANY’S SERVICE. The Canterbury Steam Shipping Company’s steamers Breeze and Storm will be laid up at Lyttelton for an indefinite period as a result of their recent misnnps. The company’s Gale, which left Dunedin for the north on Saturday, will .now go as far as Lyttelton only, transhipping her cargo to the Calm, which has been recommissioned to continue the trip to Wanganui. When the Gale has transferred hexcargo she will pick up the Breeze’s cargo for the south, and sail for Bluff and Dunedin, being duo hero on Christmas Day to discharge and load. She will sail on Monday for Wanganui via ports. HAURAKI LEAVES LOS ANGELES.

Advice has been received by the Union Company that its motor ship Haurnki left Los Angeles last Tuesday with Pacific Coast cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Now Plymouth, Bluff, Melbourne, and Sydney. She is due at Auckland on January 5.

ARDEKVOHR LEAVES NEW YORK,

Cabled advice has been received that tho A.- and A. Line chartered motor slxip Ardenvolxr left New York on Tuesday for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Wanganui. She is due at Auckland about January 20.

Tho Government motor ship Maui Pomare, from Port Chalmers, arrived at Auckland last night. She will leave there again to-morroxv ior Apia and Niue Island to load fruit for New Zealand*
