WEST TAIERI CLUB

The members of the West Taieri Defence Rifle Club fired the final competition for prizes presented by Mrs Hughes, Mrs Brookes, Mrs Graham, and Miss Fraser, and Messrs A. Timms and H. W. Brookes. Rain showers fell during i" o afternoon, and at the 600yds range a drizzle made the visibility poor. Top score at 300yds was made by President A. T. Graham with 33, Riliemau W. L. Cuttance, Deputy-president H. VV. Brookes, and Rifleman D. Ashley being next with 31 each. At 500yds Rifleman A. Fraser was top with 54, being closely followed by Riflemen W. Irving, V. B. Walker, President A. T. Graham, Rifleman W. L. Cuttance (all 33), and Riflemen D. Ashley, R. Campbell, and L. Hughes (32). Going back to 600yds, President A. T. Graham and Rifleman V. B. Walker scored 33 each, and Deputy-president 11. W. Brookes and Rifleman G, Wyllie, R. Campbell, and H. Fraser 30 each. Top score in the shoot-elf of the six highest scorers in the competition was made by Rifleman W. Irving and L. Hughes, who each scored 48. KAITANGATA CLUB

The Kaitangata Defence Rifle Club fired a match on Saturday for prizes presented by Vice-presidents T. Espie and S. Coulter and the secretary, the conditions being 10 shots (two optional sighters) at 300 and 500 yards. Though the light was v jry dull at the shorter range and changeable later on, some good scores were r gistered, notably J. H. Frazer’s 48, 47 —95, which sets a new record for the club, boating his previous record of 94, made in 1926. R. Kitto put on two 46’s, and M.
