PIGEON FLYING

The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew its second 500-mile race from Taihape last Saturday, fifty-six birds from twelve lofts being liberated in fine but cloudy weather. Adverse weather conditions were encountered en route, and returns were disappointing. The winner’s time was twenty-four and ahalf hours. Results : F. Jones’s Spartan (611.3), 1; J. Scoullar’s On Guard (603.5), 2; T, Douglas’s Wee Peter (603.1), 3; D. Cunningham’s Blue Peter (596.7), 4; F. Jones’s Quickstep (571.3), 5; A. Stevenson’s Bonnie Doou (536.1), 6; T. Douglas’s Topex (520.3), 7; F. Jones’s Reflect (614.4), 8; L. Tonk’s Red Dress (510.7), 9. An interval race was also flown on Saturday, seventeen pens competing. The placmgs were as follow: — J. Still’s Monarchy (924.3), 1; J. Lynn’s Tip Top (906.5), 2; L. Tonk’s Good Sport (875.7), 3; J. Scoullar.’s Decoy (873.9), 4; A. Stevenson’s Jammie (829.1 )j 5.
