ELECTRICAL STORM
FIVE COWS KILLED [Pbr United Press Association.] , PALMERSTON N., December 21. An electrical storm was experienced in the country districts adjacent to Palmerston North yesterday morning, there being a phenomenal downpour between Taikorea and Rangiotu. At Koipane five cows, the property of Mr T. Leen, were killed, presumably from concussion through lightning, for an investigation failed to disclose any signs of a direct strike. At Kairanga large pinus insignis were struck, portions being thrown 50yds away. Some landed in the garden of a private residence, destroying valuable shrubs.
