PRIZE DAY AT SCHOOLS
■ — : —♦ MAOANDREW ROAD At the Macandrcw Hoad Scliool tlio annual distribution of prizes took place on Thursday, classes P in the gymnasium at 11 a.in., and Standards'l. and 11. at 2 p.m., and the seniors in the South Dunedin Town Hall at 8 o’clock. In each case a programme of concert items was submitted, and books and certificates distributed. In the forenoon the Rev. Mr Pish, one of the clergy who visit the school weekly for Bible teaching, handed the books to the little ones. In the afternoon the duty was undertaken by the Rev. Mr Daniel and Canon Button, and in the evening the distribution was divided among the chairman of the committee [(Mr A. Smiley), the Rev. Mr M‘Dowell, Mr A. T. M’indoe, Mr Fred. Jones, M.P., Mr H. D. Morgan, Mr A. H. Robinson, and the president of the Ex-Pupils’ Association (Mr J. W. Dove). Mr John Bowie (head master) concluded a lengthy programme by acknowledging briefly the various, congratulations on a successful year’s work. During the evening a presentation was made to Miss Winnie Henderson, a Standard VI. pupil, who played the accompaniments for the practice and performances both at the school concert and at the prize distribution. > Standard.
