SAILED. —December 10. Opihi, s.s. (6 p.m.), 1,117 tons’ Hackworth, for Hew Plymouth, via ports. Jfclolmdale, s.’s, (6.10 p.m.), (381 tons. Holm, for Wanganui via ports. Two departures last night were the Opihi' and Holmdale, tho former being bound for Nelson and New Plymouth via ports and the latter for Wanganui and way ports. The Cumberland has had her loading itinerary altered so that she is due at Wellington on December 22, and calls at Napier 'before Picton. She is to sail from Lyttelton on January 7 lor London. ; Fixed to sail finally from Wellington for Loudon via Cape. Horn and Dakar on December 19, the C. and D. Port Hu on will then be, two days earlier than was previously arranged. On Monday the Waipiata is to load out hero for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. Tho Wainui leaves Wellington on Saturday for Dunedin, where she is due on- Monday to load cargo, thence Bluff and Melbourne. Duo on Sunday from Lyttelton, the Storm is to load out .and sail on Monday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. Tho Astoria was expected to proceed from Ravensbourno to Port Chalmers this afternoon to put out the rest of her phosphate cargo. She then docks here for cleaning and painting, and her movements thereafter are as yet indefinite. The John is to load general cargo here on Monday for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. TEE FERRY SERVICE. Berthing at Lyttoton at 6.45 this morning, the Wahine landed her passengers and mails frmn in time to connect with fho train coming south. PAKURA TO RESUME. • A Press Association message from Wellington states that repairs to the Pakura, which struck a rock on the east coast near Tora Landing on November 7, have been almost completed. The vessel will leave Wellington on Monday, when she will resume her running in. the Wellington-Napior-Gisborne trade, WAIKOU AITPS NEXT TRIP. The Union Company advises that the Waikonaiti is to load cargo at Dunedin on Monday and leave the same day for Sydney, ft is hoped to despatch the vessel from the New South Wales port for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Timaru before Christmas, probably on December 21., 1\ ANNA DUE MONDAY. Now expected hero on Monday from Walpolo Island via Noumea and Lyttelton, tho Raima is to unload guano and then load general cargo for Lyttelton and Westport. THE MAUI POMARE. \ Tho fog outside tho Heads delayed tho arrival of tho motor ship Maui Pomaro to-day, and she did not come up to tho wharf at Dunedin until early this afternoon to unload bananas from the ■ 's. Next week she docks at Port Chalmers for overhaul. THE CANADIAN HIGHLANDER. The Canadian Highlander, which left Dunedin on September 16 for Canada via Australia, left New York on November 24, arrived at Boston on December 4, and loft there the same day for Halifax, where sho arrived on Monday. CANADIAN SCOTTISH IN BALLAST. The Canadian Scottish is on her way out to Now Zealand in ballast via South America, She was to have loft Buenos Aires at iho end ol* November, and will call at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and .Dunedin, returning to Canada , direct, A
OPAWA LEAVES DAKAR./ The motor ship Opawa, en route from Liverpool, sailed from Dakar at 7 a.m. on Monday. She is coming to Now Zealand via the Cape of Good Hope, and is due at Auckland on January 5. NOTICE TO .MARINERS. The Marine Department advises that the beacon shown on the south-western extreme of Te Motu Island and the beacon shown north-eastward of Rangihna Point, in Kawhia Harbour, are nonexistent, and are to be expunged from the chart.. RADIO FROM TAIROA. The Tairoa, en route from London via Cape Town for New Zealand in ballast, has reported by wireless that she expects to arrive at New Plymouth next Tuesday morning. , PERSONAL. Mr J. Farrant, of the Union Company, is to go on sick leave at the end of this week to enable him to enter a private hospital to undergo a minor operation. • Mr W. Walker has joined the Holmdale as third engineer. Captain W. Martin has been appointed to command the R.M.S. Niagara, relieving Captain T. V. Hill for holidays. Captain H. S. Whyborn assumed command of the Kaimiro at Wellington on Wednesday, relieving Captain A. H. Howie for further orders. Captain M. M'Keuzie is joinng the Kowhai at Melbourne this week, relieving Captain J. Stewart for, holidays. Mr J. W. Madden has relieved Mr L. P. Bourke as junior third officer of tlie Niagara, and the latter officer is taking holidays at Sydney. Captain E. L. Grayson, late clner officer of-the motor liner Karamea, is in command of the Tairoa, which is due at New Plymouth next Tuesday from Loudon via Cape Town. MARAMA’S LIST. The intercolonial steamer Marama reached Wellington on Tuesday morning from Sydney. The weather during the voyage was fairly good, except on Sunday, when a gale, which could almost he described as a typhoon, blew from the south. Tho sea was not as heavy as might have been expected, but the passengers were hard to convince that it was a dry wind, unaccompanied by rain, owing to the spray which swept over the ship.
