HEW GUARD’S PETITION WANTS LOWER HOUSE DISSOLVED Frew Association— By Telegraph— Copyright. SYDNEY, November' 23. The Governor (Sir Philip Game) today received a petition from the New Guard asking him to dissolve the Legislative Assembly on the ground that the people of New South Wales are veiy apprehensive because of continued disloyal acts and utterances, and because the Premier and Ministers no longer retain the confidence of the people. The Governor agreed to give his answer to-morrow, THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS. 1 SYDNEY, November 23. The Governor to-day administered the oath to the twenty-fivo new members of tho Legislative Council. The newspapers continue to attack the Lang administration in the most bitter fashion, and predic; grave economic and industrial consequences as a result of the Governor's change of front. SUITS TO BE DISCONTINUED. SYDNEY, November 2*l. (Received November 24, it 11.30 a.m.) Tho Commonwealth Crown Solicitor has filed a note of discontinuance in two actions which were commenced in the High Court against New South Wales by tho Commonwealth and the other States to recover amounts in respect of which the State had defaulted overseas, and payment of which was made by the Comnonwealth. Tho amounts claimed in tho writs were £557,519 and £230,875.
