THE SINGLE RELIEF WORKER.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —111 reading your worthy journal I fail to see any reference to the treatment that is being meted out to the single relief workers. Apparently the powers that he consider the sum of 18s an exorbitant amount to allow single men to earn, so we have now been reduced to twelve- hours weekly. That makes our earnings 13s Gd per week three weeks a .month. The Government's mam idea seems to mo to be an attempt to drive us out to these prison
camps (as they are referred to in a letter sent to me). . At present we appear to be nothing less than parasites (to a certain class), and should be sent away out of harm’s way to work for our food, while that same clasS would be just as keen to bring us back if the country happened to be in the throes of war.—l am, etc., R.J.B.
