MUNICIPAL ORGAN RECITAL
Of outstanding interest at last night’s organ recital was the association of Miss Alice Wilson and ])r Galway in the Grieg * Concerto in A Minor.’’ Miss Wilson, an accomplished young pianist, gave a distinguished performance of the solo music to a vivid orchestral accompaniment provided hy Dr Galway. The whole concerto occupied the best part of twenty-five minutes, and was a difliculb tost that demonstrated to a remarkable degree the mnsicianly qualities of the two artists. The balance of the programme was attractively arranged by Dr Galway. Perhaps, the most outstanding item, from a point of view of brilliance, was the Guilmaiit ‘ First-Sonata,’ in which the recitalist showed consummate skill in performance. The slow movement from the Mozart ‘ Symphony in F Flat ’ was very charmingly interpreted. '(Tie power of the Bach ‘ Prelude in F Flat ’ commanded immediate interest. Lighter selections‘that appealed greatly to the audience wore Dudley Buck’s ‘At Evening.’ an adagio by Frank Bridge, a sprightly Morris dance by "Wood, and Schubert's very beautiful ‘ Song to Music.’ Beethoven’s ‘Egmont’ overture, the concluding item of the recital. was an exceedingly inleresting performance.
