Mr Paul Edmonds, examiner for elocution, Trinity College of Music, London, arrived in Dunedin from the north yesterday. Mr M. C. Hamon (Government audit inspector) arrived from Christchurch last evening in order to take up duty in Dunedin. Miss Muriel Hare, post-graduate of the Otago School of Massage, is advised that slft> has been elected a member of the Australian Massage Association. Mr J. K. Macfie, district secretary of the A.0.F., left for Christchurch this morning to attend a jubilee function of the A.O.F. at Papanui. Cr T. M‘Mahon at last night’s meeting of the Green Island Borough Council mentioned that Mr and Mrs Peter M'Lean, two very old and respected residents of the district, had attained their golden wedding anniversary, and on his motion it was resolved to forward the council’s congratulations. Miss A. C. Tizard. M.A., senior mistress at the Hamilton High School,was yesterday appointed principal of the Wanganui Girls’ College by the Board of Governors (states a Press Association telegram). The appointment was made by a unanimous vote from a total of eighteen applicants. Mr G. F. C. Tanner, transferred from the Commercial Bank, Hurstville, Sydney, arrived here yesterday to take over the management of the Dunedin branch, vice Mr S. Angel, who will be manager at Hobart. Feeling reference to the death or Miss Helen Williams was. made by Mr E. A. Rosevear at the meeting yesterday of the Patients and Prisoners’ Aid Society. Mr Rosevear said the society and the citv felt very keenly the passing of Miss Williams, which was deplored by the whole community. Miss Williams" had always had the interests of the society at heart, and she had paid particular attention to the rest home for women, where her fine disposition had won the love of the children. Last night’s meeting of the West Harbour Borough Council passed a motion of sympathy with Mr D. Harris Hastings ‘(an ex-mayor of the borough), upon the recent death of his daughter. Mr P. Edmonds (London), Mr W. D. Ferguson (Sydney), Mr D. Aarons (Melbourne), Mr J. Rosenberg (Auckland), and Mr L. Treleyen (Christchurch) are guests at the Grand Hotel. New visitors to the City Hotel are Mr V. Birtwhistle (Melbourne), Messrs G.L. Thomson and R. Christie (Christchurch), Mr L. Scaife (Geraldine , Misses May and .lean Beattie (Lauder),Mr and Mrs J. F. Strang, and Mr and Mrs C. S. Longuet (Invercargill).
