Mend and Cunningharne were again remanded to September 29 on a charge of having at Sydney, between July 1 and September 18, conspired to defraud .shareholders of the Ocean Investment Trust Ltd., and other persons, of large sums of money. The police stated that inquiries had not been completed, hut when they wore ready the case would be short. Counsel for the men objected to a remand. Ho said that cheques were drawn, not for the bnefit of the accused, but to pay the liabilities of other companies. They had been in custody for four days, being unable to obtain bail.
