Mr T. Scott was re-elected chairman! unopposed at yesterday afternoon’s meeting of the Board of Managers of the King Edward Technical College. -Members mentioned that Mr Scott had been twenty-one years chairman of the board, of which he had been a member for twenty-eight years. It showed that Mr Scott’s work was appreciated when he was re-elected chairman in each successive year. Mr J. Horn was elected deputy-chairman for the ensuing year. Mr George Duncan will retire at the end of the month from the managership of the New Plymouth branch of the National Insurance Company, and his successor will be Mr D. Buddie, of Auckland. Air Duncan intends to settle in Dunedin.—Auckland correspondent. The death of the Rev. D. Dutton was referred to at the annual meeting last night of the astronomical branch of the Otago Institute. The chairman (Mr A. W. Tucker) said that the late mem-, her had not only given valuable service to the committee, but had been a brilliant lecturer. Ho had done mnch to popularise the science of astronomy. A motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried. At yesterday afternoon’s meeting of the Board of Managers of the King Edward Technical College it was decided to write to Messrs J. T. Paul and C. Conn expressing the board’s regres at the severance of their association with the board. It was also decided to minute appreciation of the services of tbo retiring members. Air H. L. Gibson, who for nearly twelve months has been indoor assistant; traffic manager for the Railway Department at Christchurch, lias received notice of his transfer to Dunedin as acting traffic manager, and will leave Christchurch on Thursday. Prior to his appointment as indoor assistant traffic manager he was outdoor assistant traffic manager at Christchurch for a year, and before that was in charge of the train-running branch. His place in Christchurch will be taken by Air A. Clark, who is acting temporarily. Air Clark was formerly acting station master at Christchurch, a position he held for some months.—Christchurch correspondent. Air ]). G. France, the well-known lawn tennis player, was married quietly at Wellington last week (telegraphs our Wellington correspondent). Air France, who has held the New Zealand men’s doubles and New Zealand mixed doubles championships, has also twice appeared in the national singles final, and was this year ranked second player in the dominion. He suffered only one defeat in singles matches last year, beating Seay, Angas, Stedman, and Bartleet in Wilding Shield matches.Airs France was Aliss Eileen Brady, a Wellington representative tennis player and past champion. Airs Wm. Terry, who died at Otorohanga last Saturday after a long illness,was the daughter of the late Air and . Airs Wm. M'Lennan, of Filled street,Dunedin, and sister of Aliss K. McLennan, of St. Leonards, and Air Wm.Al'Leunan, of Alaori Hill. Airs Terry lost two sons during the war—Sergeant Frank IV. Terry, who fell during the Gallipoli operations, and Private John M'Lennan Terry, who died of wounds in France.
