HALF-YEARLY REPORT SUBSTANTIAL PROFIT. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, SYDNEY, September 22. The Commonwealth Bank’s halfyearly report discloses an increased profit of £81,863, -which is attributed mainly to its fuller functioning as a general reserve bank. There is a large increase in the balance-sheet aggregate, bearing directly on the part taken and played in the financing of Governments. The total profits are £700.788, compared with £618,925 for the previous half-year. The profit of the note issno department shows a decrease of £13.563 to £292,880.
