BATTLE WITH SWORDFISH
KILLED AFTER TWO HOURS FISHING BOAT IN DANGER. A giant swordfish which was landed dead alter a thrilling tight with live Brighton fishermen, was sent to Loudon recently to be cured and placed on exhibition. The fish, which measured 10ft and had a sword 4ft long, was caught in the fishermen’s nets a few miles south of the Palace Pier. It made desperate efforts to escape. The skipper of the boat, Mr Samuel Andrews, decided to try and land the fish alive, and an exciting struggle followed. Air William Andrews said “After they had boon fighting for an hour my undo thought he would have to give up all attempts to laud the fish. “Several times it nearly capsized the boat, and if they had not had a largo amount of not out, thus allowing the' fish plenty of play, it would have scuttled the boat with Us sword. After two hours one of the men stunned the fish with an oar, and when it was brought aboard it was dead.”
