——— BRITAIN'S BUSIEST GIRL Tho busiest girl in Britain recently gave five minutes of her precious time to a newspaper interviewer in London. She is Miss May Shepherd, the English secretary to Mr Charles Chaplin. In a luxurious room which has been converted into an office in Mr Chaplin’s hotel in London Miss Shepherd related that she had also been secretary to Budolph Valentino, Mary Bickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and Jackie Coogan. “ Ah, can you find room for them on that big table in the corner?” the busy secretary said to a page boy who entered with an armful of letters. Proceeding with her story. Miss Shepherd said: “When I worked for the Fairbanks they used to get a tremendous Jot of letters, but most of them were for Mary. At that time Douglas was known, and that was ail, but Mary Bickford was simply adored. “ She and Mr Chaplin have the heaviest of mails of anyone I havo ever been connected with, and they get letters from all classes of people iu all parts of the world.” Tho bellboy at this stage returned with another load of letters. “ I really could not say which * star ’ I havo liked most to work with. They havo all been very kind, and, although I am often at work till well after midnight, I love the job.”
