Those are the refreshing elements in Kadio Pictures’ satirical comedy, ‘The Tioyal Bed,' which comes to the Octagon Theatre tomorrow It is Lowell rihcnnnn at the peak of his directorial art, and at the height of his acting career. As the lionpecked King, dominated by his “ Queen,” a part splendidly played by Nance O’Neill, Sherman displays his keen sense of humour, his irony, ami Ins personality in a manner which eclipses Ids former efforts in 1 Tie Knew Women;’ ‘ Lawful Larceny,’ and ‘ The Pa.volf.’ Tho story is charming ami is laid in a mythical monarchy in tho North Sea. Pohcrt Warwick returns to the screen as Prime Minister. Mary Asler is delightful gnd astonishingly beautiful as Princess Anne, Ibe King’s daughter. The Queen, for political purposes, arranges tho marriage of the Princess to a dissolute Prince, then loaves for a tour of America. Then mischief breaks . . . the revolt starts . . . the King asserts himself, and tho situations from then on arc tense, thrilling, dramatic, and humorous. Anthony Bnsholl, ns the King’s secretary and the prireoss’s sweetheart, is excellent, while others in tho east Man Poscon, Gilbert Krnerv, Frederic Hurt, Carrol NTdsh, Hugh Trevor, and Desmond Pobcrts—give commendable performances. Tho film shows a decided freshness of treatment which instantly marks it as one of the most ingenious offerings of tho season. Think at Tim Bristol.
