PARTICIPATES IN REGATTA HIS MAJESTY ABOARD. (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, August 1. The King was aboard his cutter Britannia to-day when she took part in the regatta of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club, It is the first race that His Majesty sailed in since her conversion to the Bermudan rig. MAN WASHED OftRBOARD KING DEEPLY MOVED. LONDON, August 3. (Received August 4, at 12.50 p.m.) While the Britannia was proceeding to the opening of the races at the Cowes regatta the yacht heeled over and a wave washed overboard the second mate, Ernest Friend. The King was deeply moved at the tragedy and , took an active part in the rescue work, but a heavy sea was running ami Friend, though a strong swimmer, was unable to keep afloat. The Britannia searched the spot for half an hour withv. out result. Meanwhile there was tremendous excitement among the spectators, as there was a rumour that the King had met with a mishap. This was soon dispelled, however, when the King returned to reassure the Queen,
