Lang) has been given until Saturday to accept or reject the Commonwealth Bank’s proposals for taking over the New South Wales Government Savings Bank. THE £SOO LIMIT BILL TO BE INTRODUCED. SYDNEY, July 24. (Received July 24, at 9 a.m.) Mr Lang’s Bill to reduce the higher public servants’ salaries to £SOO is being introduced on Tuesday. It also covers Ministers, members of Parliament, and judges, but excludes the Governor’s salary. VICTORIAN ASSEMBLY VOLUNTARY REDUCTION IN SALARIES. MELBOURNE, July 23. The members of the Victorian Legislative Assembly agreed to reduce their own salaries from £SOO t £447 in the case of country members, and to £397 in the case of metropolitan members. IMPORTATION OF TEAR GAS FORBIDDEN CANBERRA, July 23. Without affording any explanation for his action the Minister of Customs (Mr P. M. Forde) has forbidden the importation into Australia of 'tear gas or any apparatus to be used with it.
