MISTAKEN FOR KANGAROO
PRISONER SHOT BY WARDER Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, July 24. (Received July 24, at 10 a.m.) Mistaken for a kangaroo, Herbert O’Brien, aged forty-two, an inmate of Brookenold prison camp, near Bombala,_ was fatally shot by a warder. O’Brien was to have been released in twelve days’ time, after serving fifteen years. O’Brien, because of his exemplary behaviour, was granted many privileges. Ho accompanied* tho warder on a kangaroo hunt. The official, in the semi-darkness, fired at .a movement in tho foliage, and rushing to tho spot found O’Brien seriously wounded in the groin.
