FIVE TOWNS TO BE WIPED OUT BINGHAMPTON. N.Y., July 10. Five thriving Delaware county villages wjU be wiped out to give New; Yorkers an extra supply of drinking water. If condemnation proceedings are successful, Shaverton, Arena, Pepacton, Union Grove, and Runraven, containing nearly 800 persons, will b» v replaced by a twenty-two-mile lake. The Delaware River will be dammed near East Branch to build a lake of 370,000,000ga1, according to construction plans. A site has been located with _ bedrock 90ft 1 below the offering a satisfactory dam foundation^ The valley to be flooded contains the Little Delaware and Northway railroad. It was purchased several years ago by Mr Samuel RosolL of New York, for 470,000d0l (£94,000).
