‘HER MAN’

DELIGHTFUL FILM FOR STRAND An outstanding picture attraction that should do much to enhance tho reputation of tho Strand Theatre will commence to-morrow, when tho Patho production, ‘Her Man,’ will ho screened. ‘ Her Man ’ was made by tho director of. the famous success, ‘ Holiday,’ and is in every way a wonderful screen offering. It was recently described by that severe critic, the ‘ Photoplay Magazine,’ as one of tho three best pictures of the month. A striking east of stars is* headed by that beautiful actress, Helen Twelvotrees, who has with her Phillips Holmes, Ricardo Cortez, Slim Summerville, Marjorie Rambeau, Thelma Todd, James Gleason, and many others. To quote the ‘ Photoplay’: “Here is a grand picture, with all. the colour, drama, humour, and vivid action of the very best wo have seen. The acting is so fine, tho direction so clever, and the photography so satisfactory that critics and audiences are sure to agree in praising it. Helen Twelvetrees is brilliant as ‘Frankie,’ and Phillips Holmes’s appealing ‘ Dan ’ and Ricardo Cortez’s sinister ‘Johnnie’ are admirable. Marjorie Ramheau gives a magnificent performance as tho sodden -‘ Annie,’ And the comedy of James Gleason, Harry Sweet, Slim Summerville, and Franklin Pangborn is irreproachable. . There are some amazing camera angles, , and a .fight that is the most exciting and realistic wo have witnessed on the screen.” ‘Her Man’ will.bo screened .with a full programme of excellent short features, including an hilarious comedy, .‘Royal Flush,’ an /Esop’s fable, a sporting feature, and . sound news reel. On Saturday afternoon next the Strand Theatre management, in conjunction with Messrs Cadbury, Fry, Pludson, will give the children a special “Cadbury gift’’ matinee, at which there will be shown a particularly fine film, depicting the making of chocolate in all its. various stages at the famous Bournevillo village in England. After seeing the chocolate made, all children attending will receive a packet of the. finished product. , An essay competition is being run in conjunction with the screening of the film, and some first-rate prizes, presented by Messrs Cadbury, Fry, Hudson, are being offered.
