RUGBY REFEREES
During the football season the Otago Rugby' Referees’ Association hold weekly meetings for the discussion of rules, and tho first of these for tho present. season was held*,on .Saturday night, when Mr W. Connor, presided over an attendance of forty-two members. ■ In welcoming members, tho Chairman said it was very pleasing to see such a largo attendance, and he hopcl it would be equalled right throughout tho season. He wished to make it known that the meetings were open to players and coaches The lecturei for the evening was Mr J. M. Briggs out of the younger members, who, with tho aid of blackboard diagrams, dealt lucidly with all tho points that com*- under thq obstruction rule. Mr J. Hirnburg who represented the association at the annual conference of the New Zealand Referees’ Association at Hamilton, gave a report on the 'proceedings, and was accorded a vote of thanks.
