THE HON. MRS RALPH VANE
An interesting visitor to Dunedin is the lion. Mrs Ralph Vane, who arrived on Thursday and is staying at the Grand Hotel. K. Airini A r ano is an artist of repute in London, and works mostly in a special medium—tempera—also in water colour. One example of her work hangs in the Dunedin Art Gallery. Mrs Vane is the daughter of Captain _ Gilbert Mayer; her mother was Miss Kate Sperry, a member of one of Dunedin’s pioneer families and a well-known local artist. Mrs Vane has brought to New Zealand a collection of pictures 1 depicting the scenery of Morocco, Tunisia, California, England, and New Zealand, which are to ho exhibited in the Concert Chamber (Bristol Piano Company) from March 25 to April 1. On Friday an afternoon tea party was given in the Otago AATnnen’s Club to give Airs Vane an opportunity of meeting her many old friends in Dunedin. Those present were Mesdamos Howard Jackson, 10. Reynolds, T. Fergus, Andrew Todd, Cantrell, Callaway, J. Shand, Kirkland, Adam, Chrystali,, O’Callaghan, Misses Callaway, D. Jackson, G. Morris, Kelsey, and K. Clapperton.
