INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURE

MEETING OF COUNCIL Sir Thomas Sidey presided over a meeting of the council of tile Otago branch* of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, which was hold in the Otago Expansion League’s board room yesterday afternoon. The Secretary stated that the owner of the area of laud on the top of Maungatua Hid go which it was desired, to preservo from vandalism bad been approached. Unfortunately, however, no agreement had been readied, but it was thought possible that the owner would give permission to botanists to visit the locality.—The secretary was instructed to interview the owner and attempt to arrange for persons authorised by the institute to have access to the land. Mr H. Bennett was congratulated on his winning the Lodcr Cup at the Horticultural Society’s show. It was decided that Mr Dennett be presented with a miniature replica of the cup.
