In Germany the consumption of gin, or “ schnapa.'’ to give it its proper name in tho Reich, has declined by nearly ono-half. This is accounted for to some little extent by tho prevailing trade depression, but to a greater extent to tho fact that the people are eking more and more to non-intoxicat-ing drinks. Compared with pre-war limes, the consumption of brandy has sunk to one-fifth. At the same time tho consumption of hear has greatly increased, so that the way to total abstention in Germany is still long. An cighteep-year-old Teddington (Eng.)
