A committee of prominent persons connected with the dairying industry lias been appointed by the Government to make recommendations which wfll aim at relieving it possible some of the more serious hardships now being experienced by the producers. |t will meet fin Thursday morning in Parliament Building and be constituted as follows ;—North Auckland representative, -Mr Millington (manager of the Whangarei Co-operative Dairy Com pauy) ; Waikato, Mr Westmater (auditor of the New Zealand Co-opera-tive Dairy Company) ; Bay of Plenty, Air J. Moody (secretary of the Opouriao Dairy Company, Taneatua) ; Taranaki, Mr G. Duncan (secretary of the Hawera Dairy Company); Mauawatu, .Mr P. J. Desmond (secretary of the Cheltenham Dairy Company. Wairarapa); Hawke's Bay, Air L. li. Smart (secretary of the dairy companies of Carterton) ; Canterbury, .Mr S. J. Smith (secretary of the Canterbury Central .Dairy Company) ; ’ South Island, Mr J, A. Broome (secretary of seven dairy compani.i at Winton), togother with -Mr Singleton (Director of the Dairy Division), Mr Fawcett (Ian:; economist, Department of Agriculture), and Air T. C. Brash (secretary of the Dairy Control Board). “ It will he noticed,’ said Air Hansom (Acting Prime Minister). in announcing the constitution ot the committee, “ that it is essentially a body of practical men with thorough knowledge nob only of conditions ot production, bub of the financial position and obligations of dairy farmers. The committee has been set up as the result ot representations from the National Dairy Association and Dairy Control Board, and it is desired to ascertain the extent of the troubles affecting dairy fanners and what practical recommendations can be made to the Government with the object of helping the producers in their difficulties.”
