Mr P. S. K. Macassey, Crowd Prosecutor at Wellington, is at present on a visit to Dunedin. Dr D.' W. Carmalt Jones, professor of systematic medicine at the University of Otago, arrived at ■ Wellington yesterday by the Ulimaroa from Sydney. Sir G. Saltmarsh, representative of the United Kingdom on the British Phosphates Commission, aud Mr Albert F. Ellis, the New- Zealand member of the commission, will arrive in Dunedin to-morrow afternoon, aud will stay at the Grand Hotel. The death of the well-known Canterbury stock auctioneer, Mr Lewis Reginald Corsbie, took place last evening. Mr Corsbie was born in the Ashburton district, and at an early ago began practical experience in stock, particularly in connection with the management of sheep, which later earned him a reputation as one of the foremost authorities on stock in Canterbury. He had mustered over most of tho principal stations from Oamaru to Nelson. At one time he managed Four Peaks Station, Geraldine. Later Mr Corsbie entered the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, and was in. charge of that firm's stock department for many years. In this_ capacity, and more recently through his connection with the New Zealand Farmers Co-operative Association, he became a well-known figure at Addington yards. A keen sportsman in his younger days, Mr Corsbie was actively interested m racing, Rugby, boxing. His boxing achievements included winning .the New Zealand amateur heavy-weight championship. Mr Corsbie, who was a member of the Civic Masonic Lodge, was fifty-eight years of age.—Christchurch correspondent. Captain and Mrs Vaughan Hughes and Major and Mrs Bathhurst, who are relatives of the Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) will arrive in Dunedin this evening and stay at the Grand Hotel. Mrs Vaughan Hughes is Lord Bledisloe’s sister, and Major Bathhurst, ins military secretary, is Lis brother. Miss'D. T. Bunbury, of Messrs Arthur Barnett Ltd., has just returned , from an extended trip to London, New York, Paris, and Vienna. Mr A. Burbery (London), Messrs L. Cheyne and J. S. Tyhitaker (Auckland), Mr and Mrs D. R. Menzies (Wellington), Mrs and Miss K. L Hendrie (Tapanui), and Mr J. R. \V ilson (Tawanui) are staying at ttie Grand Hotel. . „. , The guest list at the Excelsior Hotel includes Mrs J. Gottliebsen (Melbourne), Messrs H. Higson and J. L. Williamson (Auckland), Misses C. Brookes, E. M‘Kee, B. Earp, and E. C. Corie, Messrs J. Robson and C. Woolley (Wellington). Mr and Mrs M. Hobbs and Mr J. L. Machaelis (ChristCll Visitors to the City Hotel include Messrs A. Oram and L. Ashley (Wellington), Mr G. S. Gillespie (Nelson). Misses Bain (two) and E. , r fM (Christchurch), and Miss A. M Leocl (Invercargill).
