What is claimed as New Zealand's first women’s sports feathering providing competition in recognised field-as well as track events was hold by the Hawera Ladies’ Amateur Athletic Club last evening. The competitors attended I'rom the area between New Plymouth and Hawera, but tho numbers and the standard of the performances wore affected adversely by tho cold rain squalls, Regulation women’s weight implements were used for tho javelin and discus throw and shot putt. The winning competitors of the principal field events were all Misscb. Results: — Javelin.—P. Bollond (Hawera/, 92ft 9iu. Discus.— B. Stevens (Hawera), 61ft lOin. Shot Putt.—B. Stevens, 21 ft. Hop, Step, and Jump.—N. Howlands iKltham), 30ft Gin.
