SAND BUILDING.
TO TU SDITOE. Sir, —I suppose we can all remember glorious days in our youthful lives spent on the beach, with the waves curling up to our feet and a grand stretch or sand on which to disport ourselves. The great, the all-absorbing amusement then was the building of sand castles. Wo could build lighthouses, too, harbours, and ships, and a dozen other things. Cannot the St. Clair Improvement Association arrange sand building competitions during the coming season to induce the children to patronise St. Clair Beach? At various Scotch seaside resorts prizes are presented. The prizes are For boys and girls between 12 and 15: First prizes, silver watch and gold bangle; second prizes, cricket bat and silver brooch. For children under 12: First prize, silver watch; second prize* box of paints. There are likewise a large number of penknives, needle cases, and boxes of chocolates given as smaller prizes.—l am, etc., Arestos. November 27.
