WEDDINGS

' MILLER—WENDELKEN. The Caversham Baptist Church was the scene of a pretty and interesting wedding on October 23, when Miss Ina Wendelken, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs A. C. Wendelken, of Caversham, was married to Mr James MTherson Miller, of Timaru. The officiating minister was the Rev. H. E. Edridge, assisted by the Rev. C. Dallaston. The church was tastefully decorated by Mrs and Miss Earland with cherry blossom and spring flowers in rainbow colours, and Mrs T. G. Munro presided at the organ. The popularity of the bride and bridegroom was evidenced by the large number of wellwisliers who filled the church. The bride, who entered upon the arm of her father, was gowned in a model frock of ivory georgette and lace, the flared skirt being ankle length and scalloped. A court cape of georgette and lace fell to below the waist line, and a lovely spray of satin roses was draped on the bodice from the left shoulder. A pearl coronet, adorned with orange blossom, held in place the exquisitely embroidered silk net veil. She carried a shower bouquet of freezias and carnations. The bridesmaids were Miss Ira Wendelken. sister of the bride, and Miss Ngaira Hogg, of Timaru, cousin, tho former wearing a dainty frock of pink georgette with frilled capo and skirt, and picture hat of lace straw, and a bouquet of pink flowers. Miss Hogg was attired in a similar frock of Turquoise blue georgette, with picture hat, shoes, and bouquet to match. Miss Betty Hogg, cousin of the bride, made a sweet little flowergirl, wearing a frilled frock of primrose georgette, with headdress of tulle and primroses. She carried a pretty posy. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Elliot Sutherland as best man, and Mr John Turkingtou, of Timaru, as groomsman.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Strand Salon, where some 130 guests partook of the wedding breakfast, and responded to tho usual toasts. Mrs Wendelken received the guests wearing a lido blue celaneso frock, with circular frills of georgette, and carried a posy of wallflowers. Musical and elocutionary items were rendered by Mr and Mrs D. M. Sutherland, Mrs T. G. Munro, Miss S. Neilson, Miss M. M'Dowell, and Mr E. Kerr. 'For travelling the bride wore a delphinium blue crepe do chene frock with model hat, and a musquash fur coat, the gift of the bridegroom. The happy couple left by car for tho_ Lakes District before taking up their residence in Timaru,,

MITCHELL—ANDREWS. A delightful little wedding was solemnised at St. Peter’s Church on Wednesday evening, October 15, the contracting parties being Kenneth Hawthorn, son of Mr and Mrs J. D. Mitchell. of Oriental Bay, Wellington, and Doris Eileen, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs H. T. Andrews, Tennyson street, Dunedin. The officiating clergyman was Canon Button. The bride, who (in the absence of lief father), entered the church on the arm of Mr P. W. Stabb, was gowned in a model frock of midnight blue fish net, cut on long lines, with hat of flesh-coloured Panamalac straw, and carried a sheaf of tulips. The bridesmaid, Miss Dessa Stabb, wore a very charming crinoline frock of floral georgette and lace, and hat of ivory crinoline with ivory satin ribbon; the colours, pink and blue, of the frock were carried out iu the Victorian posy. Mrs Gillespie, sister of the bride, was matron o* honour, and was gowned in beige georgette and lace, with large black hat, and she also carried a Victorian posy. The best man was Mr Noel Armitage, of Howdon, London. Mr Alec Snell rendered a most delightful solo, ‘ Arise, 0 Sun,’ whilst the register was being signed. After the ceremony the guests adjourned to the Wilford Tea Gardens, where they were received by Mrs Andrews, who wore a black satin tailleur frock with touches of beige georgette and a smart black hat,_ with a beautiful bouquet of shell pink. Mrs Mitchell, mother of the bridgegroom, wore a navy blue georgette ensemble, relieved by oyster grey, with hat and bouquet to tone. Among the guests present were Mr and Mrs P. W. Stabb, Mr and Mrs S. Andrews, Mr and Mrs W. Wright, Mr and Mrs W. Wilson, Mesdames Rait, G. M. Baker, Largo, Calder, Rae, Misses L. Grant. J. Grant, D, Knight, H. Dickson, and J. llao, Messrs J. Andrews, L, Jenkins, R. Mathewson, and A. Andrews.
