In answer to a question regarding tho operations of the tariff truce, the President of tho Board of Trade (Mr William Graham) informed the House of Commons that tho commercial convention which was concluded at Genova last March had so far been ratified by eight countries —the United Kingdom, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Latvia, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland. A meeting had been arranged for November 17 to consider the bringing into force of the convention, and at this meeting the replies to the recent questionnaire would bo considered with a view to framing a programum lor a further conference, at which the possibility of securing a reduction of tariffs would bo examined.
