' l - ■»- , MEETIHG OF EXECUTIVE [Pint TJxitfd Psess Assocutiox.] WELLINGTON, October 10. Tbo annual meeting of the executive of tho Trentham Scholarship War Fund Association was held to-day. Mr S, Kirkealdie presided, and there were also presct.r, General. Young, Colonel Avery, Ma(or Forgie, Sir Alexander Roberts, Mr T. B Strong (Director of Education), and Mr F. Meadowcroft. The tenth annual report stated- that applications for 313 bursaries had been recsiv-M as compared with 303 in the previous year. The' following awards wore made:—Renewals, 195, £3,692 ids; new awards, 83, £1,575; declined, 35 total, '313,' £5,267 TOs. Tho following is a classified statement of the awards made Glass 1 (to children of deceased ihohi,' 214, £4,232 IDs; class 2 (to children of partly or wholly disabled men), 61, '£9ooclass 3 (to children of men who seived overseas), 3, £4s—total, 273, £5,267 10s; qverago award, £lB 19s. Since the inception of tho fund the sum of £36,943 6s has been paid to burskfs, representing 1,514 bursaries awarded and affecting 635 children. On tho avpi ago, each of the .635 children has benefited to the extent of £SB 3s 7d.
