WRESTLING
-TO-NIGHT’S CONTEST The Billy _ Edwards —Tom Ray contest. which is to bo staged in the Town Hall to-night, is sure to . bo something out of the ordinary, and by the opinions expressed locally the prospects are good for a capacity house. On paper the contest appears to be one of the most attractive, so far arranged. The local association is alive to the fact that it has been favoured with the first appearance in New Zealand of Billy Edwards, who has been the star in Australia during the present season, and in all his contests he has wrestled to capacity houses from 8,000 to 14,000. Edwards’s contract is for four- contests in New Zealand, and he will leave Auckland on October 20 for America. After his Dunedin contest he will'wrestle in Wellington on Tuesday next, New Plymouth on Thursday, and Auckland on Saturday. Tom Ray, his opponent, is in great form just now. Since his last appearance here Ray has been doing solid training at Wellington. To-night’s bout will easily eclipse any that has yet been staged here. An excellent supporting programme , has been ar-ranged-from the local-wrestling school. Billy, Edwards arrived last night and was met by the president ot the association (Mr J. A. Brown) and Mr C. L. Finer.
