The monthly meeting of tho Dunedin Central branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held on Tuesday afternoon iu the Church of Christ Sunday School. An invitation was received from tho Women’s National Council to hear Aliss Andrews give an account of tho Pan-Pacific Conference. An invitation to a sale of produce from tho Y. Union was received. Correspondence was received from members of Parliament in answer to communications re tho Gaming Amendment Act* In answer to an appeal for help from the Willard Homo it was decided to send a parcel of clothing suitable for small children. Arrangements were made for tho business to be considered at tho Animal District Convention to bo held on Tuesday, October 21. Several remits arc to bo sent forward for consideration. Airs Uictt read a paper which bad been given by a Japanese lady at tho Pan-Pacific Conference held last year, drawing particular attention to the need for the suppression of traffic in women and children.. Airs Didbam conducted devotional services, drawing attention to the need for prayer to help in the success of all efforts for,good. Mrs Taylor, dominion president of tho W.C.T.U., will give an address at the district conference and at tho concert in the evening. The meeting was closed by Airs lliett pronouncing tho Benediction.
