CHRISTIAN BROTHERS CLUB Tlx© annual smoko social of the Christian Brothers Rugby League Club, held last evening at the Caledonian Ground, attracted a large attendance, and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Mr F. Turnbull was in the chair.. The toast, “ Otago Rugby League was proposed by Mr M'Namara, who stated that the executive was always willing to help all clubs. He wished to thank it for its untiring efforts n fostering the code. People who saw the last match were given a line exhibition, and if the public was always, given games up to that standard there would be no danger of the code dropping out..In replv, Mr T. M. Gillies (president of the League) dealt largely with financial and ground matters. Among other toasts honoured was “ The Christian Brothers’ Club,” proposed by Mr A. Eckhoff. The speaker made many interesting observations concerning the tour of the New* Zea-. land team in Australia. ■- i ■ Ky T. O’Connor responded. Mr P. Turnbull - presented to ■B. O’Connor a prize for being regarded: as the. most improved player in the A team. , The season’s competition trophies were presented to E. M'Kewen, the captain of the premier side. ■ Items of entertainment were ’given by Messrs Hargreaves, Blackburn, Driscoll, Toner, and Mulrooney. Mr W. Andrew acted as pianist.
