Valroc ran into fourth place entering the straight, when Biddy’s Boy still held the lend, but the latter was worn clown and beaten by a head, with Te Hoia a length and a-half away. Sir Kay was fourth. ■ Fifteen started in the Cup, which was a good betting race, with Historic, Seatown, and Proclico and Desert Glow bracket tho most supported. Leaving the straight Seatown and Hannibal showed tho wav to Standfast and Paddon. Standfast ran to tho front along the hack, and was six lengths clear of Soatown. Crossing tho top entering the straight the order was Standfast, Seatown, Hannibal, High Pitch, Nassock, and Historic, with Prodice moving up. Historic came through on tho outside, and Prodice also put in a run on the inner, and lasting best won by threequarters ol a length, with Historic hall a length behind Standfast. Seatown was fourth. King Colossus was made a warm favourite for the Avondale Stakes with Bonny Lea, Lady Vane next. King Colossus led across the top, but was slightly behind Royal Artist entering the straight. Halfway down the running King Colossus took command again, and staved off a challenge by Lady Vane by a neck, Royal Artist three-quarters of a length awpy. Summer Time was fourth. Lucv Rose went out favourite for tho Flying Stakes, with Nancy Lee and Awaken nest in Demand. Valstrcct delayed the start, and eventually was left "at the post. Awarcro began best, followed by Iniamint, Nancy Leo, Paganelli, and Awamntu. Imamint led into the straight, but t.rcd over the last bit, when Awarere and Supremacy both challenged. Awarere won in a good finish by a head from Supremacy, Imamint a neck away. Lucy Lose was fourth.
