A WAITING DEATH

AMAZING COURAGE OF DOOMED GIRL NEW YORK, August 23, The sentence of death pronounced by physicians a year ago on Miss Katherine Schaub, a victim of radium poisoning, will soon be fulfilled, it is feared, as the young woman is reported to be lying in a critical condition in the New Jersey Orthopedic Hospital. Miss Schaub, one of five factory workers declared doomed, behoved the sentence, and devoted what she was confident was her last year of life to spending the £2,000 settled upon her bv employers. She bought a motor car, toured the country, and enjoyed life as if the shadow of death were not hovering over her. When she reached the end of her resources she reported again to . the doctor. He confirmed his verdict of a year ago, and advised her to enter the hospital, where she now lies, philosophically awaiting the end.
