TIRED OF GOVERNMENT WASTE IMPORTANT MEETING CONVENED Pr*ss Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 18. (Receiced September 19, at 12.55 p.m.) Declaring that the British people were tired of the waste and extravagance of successive Governments and the slavish adherence of parties to economic theories, whic hlost all relation to the facts of modern business life, prominent industrialists, of whom Sir William Morris is chairman, have convened a meeting for September 25 for the purpose of establishing a national council of industry ’ and commerce.
The council will consist of business people, who are determined to secure the protection of home markets and to advance inter-Empire trade. The conveners include Lord Melchett, Sir Woodman Bu'rbidge, Sir Cunliffo Owen, Sir Hugo Hirst, Sir Ernest Fetter, and Sir Felix Pole. They point out that the depth and persistence of the industrial depression demand immediate action.
