(Received September 17, at 9.45 a.m.) “They were like mountains,” said Captain M‘Lachlan, of the tiny motor shin Awahou, which reached Sydney eight days out from Auckland, in describing the seas through which the ship battled throughout the gale. He said: “X have seen bigger seas, but not when in a vessel of 400 tons.”
