MURDER ALLEGED
FURTHER PARTICULARS [Pbr Umtid Fksss Associatiok.] NEW PLYMOUTH, September 17. The inquest of the body of Cora Alice Townsend, married, who resided at Fitzroy, and who is alleged to have been murdered by her.husband, Alexander Townsend, on Tuesday morning, was formally opened this morning before Mr 11.' W. Tate, S.M., and adjourned till Wednesday next when a further adjournment will bo sought. It appears that- tho man arrested walked to Waitara carrying a loaded shot gun on Tuesday morning, lured a taxi, and went to the house of a factory manager at Oneroa, Mr F. Huso, where a sister-in-law, Mrs Hnse, lived. Later ho drove on to Urenm. Mr Huso advised the Waitara police and Constable La I’ouple, who reached the house at Oneroa n« the man returned there, handcuffed him. The latter resisted but was brought to New Plymouth. The was in tho oar but it had been unloaded by tho taxi driver.
[The deceased was found dead in her house severely cut about the tin oat. J
