Jackson and Fairfax opened at 2.45 on a wicket made for the bowlers. Jackson made 24 and was then bowled by an almost unplayable ball. Bradman came in and went for runs, and in thirty-five minutes he had scored 42 by hurricane hitting. He was particularly severe on Parker and Rhodes. Kippax joined Bradman, who was cutting and driving perfectly. Later he lifted Rhodes for a stragiht 6. Bradman at 60 was missed twice. Duckworth fumbled an easy chance of stumping and Sandhara dropped a catch. The pair added 100 in eighty minutes. Bradman’s 50 occupied fifty minutes, and Kippax’s 50 sixty-fivo minutes.
