RELIEF OF DISTRESS
COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS' EFFORT Everything is in readiness for the commercial travellers’ big cash and clothes drive to-morrow morning, and, : irrespective of the weather conditions, it is anticipated that this enterprising and charitable campaign will result iu the alleviation of much of the houseIwld distress so prevalent among families whose menfolk are unemployed.People need riot be ashamed to send in clothes which they themselves may consider to be in hopeless shape, because there are many good housewives ' only, too pleased' to receive material which can be cut down for their children. Old perambulators and go-carts, or the very minutest of their accessories and spare parts, are also acceptable, for in the city there is a kindly tradesman who has rung. up the Commercial Travellers’ Club offering to effect any repairs that may be necessary to make a broken-down go-cart whole. Old wheels, for instance, would come in particularly useful. The thirty-two lady street collectors will cover the territory lying between Manse street and St. Andrews street.
