THRILLER AND MELODRAMA

OCTAGON'S PICTURES FOR TO-MORROW The two extremes in feminine “types” are seen in the all-talking Columbia picture, ‘ Murder on the Roof,’ which will bo screened at the Octagon Theatre to-morrow. Alisa Dorothy Rcvior, tho star of the picture, is a distinct blonde type, whilst Miss Alargaret Livingston, well known in films as a vamp, is the brunette type, in this film, however, the blonde is not the person who vamps the husband and breaks up the happy family. On the contrary, Miss Rcvier is tho heroine ot tho story and Miss Livingston is the feminine evil genius of the piece. Miss Revier plays the part ol tho daughter.of the lawyer, Sommers, who is “ framed” by a foreign night club proprietor, Joo Carozzo. She turns entertainer and secures a job at Corozzo’s night) club iu an attempt to avenge her father. Carozzo becomes infatuated with her, anti she has almost secured the evidence, which will free her father from him, when Alarcia, a jilted lover of Carozzo’s, reveals her true identity. From this point on the story starts to move fast, and the tilings that happen make one 61 the most entertaining pictures screened lor some time. , ... A sparkling, thrilling. laughable comedy melodrama is ’The Dummy, starring Ruth Chatterton, which will be the supporting feature. Frederic

March. John Cromwell, Jack Oakie, Zasu Pitts, and Mickey Bennett are included in the supporting cast. The story deals with a group of kidnappers and a smart office boy who outwits them by iplaying deaf and dumb. A special Fox Movietones item of tho first test cricket match, England v. Australia, and the Prince of Wales’s speech at tho unveiling of tho Focli statue in London, should prove of special interest.
