JAZZ DOOMED _ , “ Jazz is out.' 1 That is tho verdict of tho dancing instructors of the United States who are at a conference in New York. A new dance, known as ‘ El Siboney, they say, is sweeping the country. This dance is described as “ sensational ” when' performed by experts, and depends lor its charm on smooth rhythm. Africa’s jungle savages, according to the instructors, no longer influence modern dancing, their place being taken by South America and Spain. Tho result is that the latest dances are “ restful ” and “ harmonised ” with tho long skirts now worn in the evening. Whar. is more, these new dances are to bring back romance to nations which have grown cynical about love. In the words of one instructor: *‘ Tho madness and restlessness of the war days are passing, and the people want something more satisfying.” Another languorous dance is the “ Rumba,'’ .which *origmat-ed in Cuba,
